A Program for Cultural, Emotional, and Social Development Through Dance and Music

This program is designed to promote the cultural, emotional, and social development of children through comprehensive dance and music activities in a multicultural environment.

Why Is It Important for Children?

Dance and music are powerful tools for children to express themselves, connect with their roots, and build confidence. Through Latin American rhythms and movements, children develop coordination, and a deeper appreciation for cultural diversity. These activities nurture their artistic sensitivity and foster a strong sense of belonging.

What Do We Focus on in Music?

We encourage the development of auditory, rhythmic, and expressive skills through activities that include percussion instruments, singing, and musical appreciation.

What Do We Focus on in Dance?

We promote body expression, and motor coordination through teaching traditional and contemporary dances rooted in Latin American heritage.

Skills Children Will Develop:

  • Dance Skills: Basic choreography of salsa and at least two folk dances, demonstrating coordination and rhythm.
  • Body Control: Improvement in spatial awareness, laterality, and bodily dissociation, resulting in smoother and more conscious movements.
  • Vocal Expression: Basic vocal skills through singing traditional songs in tune.
  • Cultural Knowledge: Understanding of the origin and cultural richness of the Latin American rhythms.
  • Confidence and Creativity: Increase self-confidence to express themselves through movement and voice.

Activities:

  • Fun rhythm and movement games to help children
  • Exercises to practice moving different parts of the body separately, using lively Latin rhythms.
  • Exploring sounds and voices through percussion instruments, group singing, and playful singing games with traditional songs.
  • Easy and enjoyable choreography with salsa steps and folk dances, encouraging creativity and self-expression.
  • Stories and cultural adventures that share the origins of dances and rhythms, connecting music to its culture and place of origin.
